Message I became a member of Alcor about 1982 along with 3 other people. I now have a close relationship with 5 other friends. We all left Alcor and joined Cryocare. I tried, along with others to keep us all together and improve Alcor. The Directors at that time just did not get the message, so we left and went to Cryocare. They still don't get the message. Alcor is a dictatorship. In my opinion, they have let go or fired far too many, very talented people. The Alcor board should have figured out a way to keep these people. They did not. A list here would take up too much space. I rejoined Alcor, because, at that time, the only other way was CI. Now I wish I had looked at CI more closely. The Chamberlains had a great influence on me to be with Alcor. Now they have gone to CI. I predict that if Alcor does not change, a lot of members will leave and CI will have a very sudden increase in its membership.

Message I have been an Alcor member since 1996. I became an active member in 2005. I created Alcor United as a forum to discuss the issues facing Alcor and its members. I support any movement that increases the stability of Alcor by giving its members more influence.

Message I signed up with Alcor in 1990, and I support the effort to make Alcor's board of directors more accountable to Alcor's members.

Message I believe it is harmful to Alcor for the Board of Directors to have the power to keep reappointing themselves. I think the Directors should be elected by the members.

Message I am a proud Alcor member since 1994. I love the people and the ideologies typically involved in cryonics. I consider most of my Alcor/Cryonics friends to be closer than my extended family. I think it is healthy to have multiple forums for feedback to Alcor central for concerns.

Message I support member participation in all forms, and strongly agree that Alcor should encourage such participation to the fullest extent.

Message I like it! Even though I am a member of CI, I enjoy that fact that Alcor members are willing to stand up and fight for their right to elect their board members. The Alcor dictatorship must go away for the good of the organization. I am afraid I will not be able to post here often. I am finishing my PhD this year and must avoid distractions. Good luck with this site. Sorry I must remain anonymous.

Message Hello everyone. Dave Pizer directed my attention to this website. It is truly a marvelous work, and I applaud the efforts of Tripper and others towards getting it going. Even more, I applaud any momentum being generated towards giving Alcor members the right to vote on who is on their Board of Directors.

I am not a member of any cryonics organization, but I care deeply about cryonics, its survival and progress, and fully intend to be cryopreserved unless life extension advances make it unnecessary. As a prospective member, I will be much more favorably impressed by Alcor if its members are truly members with rights to have their voice in what goes on with their organization.

I believe, along with others who have posted, that if the leaders are approved by and accountable to the membership, the solutions to most of the other problems in an organization will fall in place. Of equal importance to me are the basic human rights of individuals. If the board members are elected, you have directors. If they are not elected, you have dictators. It is truly as simple as that.

I maintain my anonymity and currently post under the handle "Finance Department" - some of you know what is behind that, but I will not go into it here; perhaps later I will cover it in one of the forum topics if I get a password to here. The most important issue for Alcor this year, is making its members REAL MEMBERS with full voting rights in their organization.
